Gig Swig: Tubelord + Shoes And Socks Off Live @ The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes (Tuesday 1st February 2011)

Tubelord documentary coming soon...?
Hold up, it's February? Yezzir! Well, February started with an almighty bang for the attendees of
this Tubelord gig with a gleaming support slot from Shoes And Socks Off then. And before you start thinking: hang about, where is the Craufurd Arms? Why are they playing there? The Craufurd Arms is an awesome venue for live music, with a nicely spacious performance room. It's like a school hall, and it begins to feel like a school hall when Shoes And Socks Off grace the stage. It's beautiful to see one man commanding a room with just his voice and guitar. The front row sit down on the floor as if it's assembly time, then before you have time to think, gently strummed yet mind bogglingly cryptic songs wash over your ears and mind. The one man show of Shoes And Socks Off literally knocks your socks off, then your shoes. In that order.

Shoes And Socks Off before you sit down please.
The promoters have done a great job on securing this gig with both Tubelord and Shoes And Socks Off performing. Especially as this show kicks off just before both bands embark on a European tour together. Tubelord keep it real by playing their set half classics and half newies. Which is reminiscent of the turn out to todays gig, half are noobies to Tubelord's sound and half are clearly die hard fans. This is made most apparent when they sing along to every word of every classic that Tubelord belt out. They play each song like they are playing it for the first time, even if it is one of the first songs they unleashed on the world. And the new stuff is also very exciting to hear live.

Highlights from their recent "Tezcatlipōca EP" rock like a rock jumping off a mountain. Tubelord are a whole new level of thrilling live. Their records are so impressive that you think they won't be able to better it live, but they do better than bettering it. They do it differently, with passion and vigor that can only come out in a live environment. The audience lap it up and the whole gig just feels triumphant! Tubelord are the lords of...well, being Tubelord. Who can ask for more?
