Its clear that there are a few My First Tooth fans in the room. And as Ross, head honcho from said band, gently plucks through oldies and newies, its clear that said fans love said songs. The My First Tooth sound has found a home in the hearts of many with it's instrumental and lyrical depth. However, classics from My First Tooth's Alcopop! Records debut are heard in an altogether new light tonight. Just Ross and his guitar on stage seems wrong at first, but soon it all makes sense. We are witnessing his songs in their barest, simplest form and it's really really nice. The new songs sound promising too; even if they are just sketches at the moment. Overall the crowd seem to be happy to have been a part of Ross's little experiment. His whole performance feels like we've walked in on him writing songs in his room, and he's offered to play us what he's working on.

Ross deserves a pat on the back, because he warmed everyone up nicely for co-headliners We Aeronauts. Who capture hearts and minds tonight with their emotionally driven sounds. They seem to have found their very own pace at which they play. And as their songs take their time to fully flourish, it's a great spectacle to see. Simple, yet varied instrumentation is the order of the night with We Aeronauts. But most importantly, they look like they are enjoying themselves, which rubs off on the crowd. It rubbed off like cat fur on your trouser leg. That's how they be rolling. Northampton already wants them to come back.
Cat Matador bring down the mood a bit with their wistful melancholia. The songs don't really go anywhere, but maybe they weren't supposed to. The drummer and the bassist however, rock the fudge out and look like they are in the zone. They should quit the band, and go and be the next Death From Above 1979. They could take over the world. Cat Matador are nice, but are too yawnsome to warrant any long lasting interest. Oh well! At least We Aeronauts rocked the casbah tonight. And Ross, who even gave away a free Twirl chocolate bar to a vocal audience member for no reason.
